Sunflower Oil: The Complete Guide to Cooking & Uses

Sunflower oil's strength is restraint: a mild, neutral flavour that lets your ingredients lead instead of competing with them.
What it is: oil pressed from sunflower seeds. Most sunflower oil in India is refined; ours is cold-pressed in a wooden ghani below 45°C and simply settled and filtered.
Best uses: everyday sabzis and dals where you don't want the oil to dominate, light sautéing, baking, and salad dressings.
For tadka it works when you want a neutral base — though mustard oil remains the classic choice when you want the tadka to announce itself.
For heavy deep frying, groundnut oil's higher smoke point makes it the better tool for the job.
